Featured Artist: Blair Bradshaw Blair Bradshaw's paintings and constructions tend to focus on the graphic simplifications of larger, more complicated organizational systems. Whether it's the periodic table, references to mass transportation, or simplified illustrations of war planes, submarines and tanks, his work uses graphical representations to bury the intricate vocabulary of each system. These paintings were created for District to take advantage of a unique space in San Francisco. I took the opportunity to scale the work up and see how these elemental icons would work together. The end result, in my mind, is that together against the inconsistent lines of raw brick, the pieces seen communicate a sort of fallible authority. www.blairbradshaw.com |
